Planned giving is increasingly important to all nonprofit
organization or institutions. Yet it is probably the least understood of
all fund-raising programs. To have a successful program, you have to
engage in extensive planning and research, and have a thorough
understanding of gift vehicles, government regulations and money
management.
With this in mind, we can:
· Help
you initiate a major/planned giving program.
· Recruit
and train your planned giving committee.
· Train
your staff on: major gifts, annuities, trusts and bequests as gift
mechanisms ... how to determine the best gift mechanism to use ... how to
secure the information necessary to develop annuity, trust or bequest
plans ... and how to formulate trusts and bequests or other special gift
agreements.
· Assist
your planned giving committee with program policies and procedures.
· Study
your existing program to determine its strengths and weaknesses.
· Evaluate
your immediate and long-term goals.
· Help
you develop a marketing plan.
·
Assist in creating a major donor
recognition program.
· Provide
software to rate and rank prospects, track contact with them, manage your
prospect database, track planned gifts, estimate future values of planned
gifts, and more.
· Inform
your volunteer boards about: the value and use of planned gifts ... the
basic technical aspects of trusts and bequests ... how to identify
prospects ... and how to arrange appointments for the development staff.
· Conduct
seminars for prospective major donors on financial and estate planning,
how to save taxes, and more.
· Calculate
sample income, gift and estate tax deductions to determine the
consequences of outright gifts, pooled funds, gift annuities, unitrusts,
annuity trusts, lead trusts and life estates.
· Prepare
gift-opportunity presentations to recommend to prospective donors.
· Help
you establish an advisory and support relationship with attorneys, CPAs,
CLUs, trust officers and other financial advisors.
· Work
with your accounting and fiduciary representatives to prepare you to
receive major gifts in trust and by bequest.
