Mabry Mill

The most photographed mill in America is seen from the end of the lake.

Meandering Creek

It looks like a watercolor, but it's not! This pastoral scene was taken after a hard rain, when the colors were saturated and the shadows were soft.

Mist on the Water

Heavy rain evolved into heavy fog one morning in Virginia's state arboretum in Berryville.

Misty Morning Oval

We placed "Misty Morning" in an oval shape and ghosted the image on the mat.

Misty Morning

Photographed near Mabry Mill on the southern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This was a magical morning with a dense fog lying gently on virtually the entire area except for the short stretch of fence line with the red berries of a holly tree.

Moon Over Shadowed Mountains

We considered calling this unusual night shot "Moon over Bonsack," in a silly attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Ansel Adams's "Moon over Hernandez," but wiser heads prevailed!

Mountain Layers at Sunset

Layer after layer after layer of purple mountains glow in the soft light of sundown.

Mountain Road Haybale

A common sight in the country: golden round bales of hay under a deep blue sky.

Mountain Overlook Panorama

Grayson Highlands, Va. One of the most beautiful spots in the country. In spring and summer, the area is covered with wildflowers; in autumn, the trees turn to brilliant yellows and reds; in winter, the mountains are covered with snow. Wild ponies roam.

Mountains with Gold Grass in Front

A panoramic view of purple mountains and golden grasses.
