"My
desire is (1) to capture the first light
—
the light that was present at the very beginning and still shines upon the
whole of creation
—
and
(2) that the light reflected in my images will winnow its way into the
hearts of the viewer and brighten his/her life. So, my photography is both
at the center of my spiritual journey and a means to more fully engage the
world."
Glenn's life-long pursuit of photography has its
roots in his early career as a marketing manager in the graphic arts
field. It is there that he became "awed by stunning artist's
reproductions, and captivated by the seemingly magical transformation of a
myriad pieces of information and images into promotional literature that
often was —
itself — art."
From a career in the graphic arts field,
Glenn migrated to higher education, first with a private college and later
with a major university. In each venue, he divided his time between
overall organizational planning and development, and communications
— which provided
continuing opportunities for him to pursue his photography. His images
have garnered regional and national recognition and awards.
In 1982, Glenn and his creative soul-mate and wife, Cyndi,
founded the publishing company, Young-Preston Associates, Inc. This
company has collaborated with approximately 800 nonprofit organizations
nationwide to write, design and publish promotional literature. Glenn’s
book Philegatia: Living a Vision, Leaving a Legacy
galvanizes his philosophy of the servant-leader life and his abiding
passion for photography as an art form.
